Frequently Asked Questions...

What locations do Ultra Mobile Radiology Service around Adelaide?

UltraMobile Radiology service all Metropolitan Adelaide, from Goolwa to Gawler.

Due to distances we tend to group our bookings each day (ie Southern Suburbs one day, Northern Suburbs the next).  Feel free to email us to get an idea of times.

We pride ourselves on efficiency and going above and beyond to service the South Australian community, so you generally wont be waiting longer than 48 hours for an X-Ray.  Ultrasound scan wait times may be longer.

What Are The Costs?

We are happy to Bulk Bill all Aged Care Residents for their Mobile X-Ray and Ultrasounds.  Our focus is providing the elderly the option of having their Radiology performed on-site and in the comfort and security of their own surroundings.

We do charge a small out of pocket cost for some rural and private in home Radiology Visits.  Please speak to our friendly team for an explanation of our payment policy.

Do You Accept Any Providers Request Form?

Yes.  We accept any of the major Radiology providers request forms that your GP has provided you.  Simply make sure your GP or Specialist has signed the form and you have provided all of your contact details.  Then simply email the form to us at info@ultramobileradiology.com.au and we'll get back to you.

Can My Specialist See The Results at SA Health sites?

Yes.  All our images are immediately available to SA Health specialists through Dr Jones & Partners Inteleviewer portal.

This is the same standard as what you will achieve at all the major Adelaide Radiology providers.

Is The Out Of Pocket Cost Claimable Through My Private Health Insurance?

Unfortunately no.  Currently private health providers do not cover the costs of Mobile X-Rays and Ultrasounds.  For Aged Care residents there in no out of pocket costs for our Mobile Radiology Service.

Is The Quality Of Your Mobile X-Rays & Ultrasounds As Good As Other Large Radiology Providers?

For the most part, Yes.  The advances in Digital Radiology is quite amazing.  We have formed an alliance with Micro-X at Tonsley for exclusive use of their new Rover X-Ray unit.  Their new Mobile X-Ray equipment is not only lightweight and portable but produces amazing quality images.

Philips have provided us with a new CX-50 Mobile Ultrasound machine is a top of range unit that is primarily designed to be portable and powerful.  We can provide most Ultrasound examinations with our unit, however we do not perform obstetric procedures.

There are a few limitations to what we can perform in the home setting and we are happy to discuss your imaging options to guide you through the process.  Feel free to reach out via our email.

How Do I Prepare For A Mobile X-Ray or Ultrasound?

A major issue for Mobile Radiology within the home or Aged Care Facility is access. It is  important that we have clear access in to the home and room you would like to be imaged in.

Please make sure that you are wearing loose, lightweight clothing and that you have removed any metal accessories (such as a bra, neck chains, belts etc).

  • For Upper Abdominal Ultrasound we require you to fast for 6 hours prior to scanning - Nil by mouth including medications and fluids
  • For Renal Ultrasound or Pelvis Ultrasound we require you to fast for 6 hours prior to scanning - 1 Litre of water is to be consumed an hour before your exam.  We require a full bladder so try not to go to the toilet.
  • Most other Ultrasound exams do not require fasting

How Quickly Can I Have A Mobile X-Ray or Ultrasound?

We will aim to perform your X-Ray ASAP, we aim to offer a 'same day' service for X-Rays and 'same week' service for Ultrasound.  We can prioritise urgent bookings, please contact us directly for urgent requirements.

Ultrasound operates 4 days per week and because these examinations take longer than an X-Ray, we group book Ultrasounds in to regions (North, South, East and West Adelaide).  Feel free to email us directly and we can let you know of times for Mobile Ultrasound in your area

Are All Your Staff Local?

We pride ourselves on being local.  Not only are all our Radiographers, Sonographers and Clerical staff local, we have also sought out local Adelaide alliances.

Our X-Ray equipment is manufactured locally (Micro-X at Tonsely), and our Radiology reporting is provided through  Adelaide based Dr Jones & Partners achieving maximum service efficiency.

We will always support local Adelaide manufacturing and service provisions.  From our experience this creates a better experience for the patients and referrers, while supporting local jobs.

How Quickly Will My GP or Specialist Get The Results?

Within 24 hours.  Images will be immediately accessible to your GP or specialist, while a radiology report will usually take 24 hours.  Report return times may vary a little during busy periods, but we aim for as fast a turn around time as we can possibly achieve.
